Executive Order 13524 of December 16, 2009

Amending Executive Order 12425 Designating Interpol as a Public International Organization Entitled to Enjoy Certain Privileges, Exemptions, and Immunities

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 1 of the International Organizations Immunities Act (22 U.S.C. 288), and in order to extend the appropriate privileges, exemptions, and immunities to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), it is hereby ordered that Executive Order 12425 of June 16, 1983, as amended, is further amended by deleting from the first sentence the words ‘‘except those provided by Section 2(c), Section 3, Section 4, Section 5, and Section 6 of that Act’’ and the semicolon that immediately precedes them.

Military Science: Hack stormy skies to lord over lightning (are they nuts?)

The military’s scientific fringe has toyed with weather manipulation and geo-engineering for years. Recently, ideas like adding iron to the ocean, or covering the Arctic with dust, have been floated in a bid stave off global warming. But the Pentagon’s also got a long track record of plotting to screw with enemy climates and improve their own operational abilities.

Now, Darpa’s got a new target for geo-hacking science, and if they can make it work, we might see modern firearms making way for weapons of the mythological variety. The out-there research agency is soliciting proposals that would harness control over “the natural mechanism of lightning initiation” by coming up with a way to launch manmade lightning bolts, and prevent or redirect natural lightning strikes — and their accompanying destruction.

How safe are you when using Twitter? RT's Anastasia Churkina visited a home that was raided by the FBI, after its owner was arrested for allegedly directing huge demonstrations at the G20 Summit in Pittsburgh in September.

Holistic Economics—A Way Out of This Mess

Holistic Economics—A Way Out of This Mess—This is the most heartening thing I've yet seen—a legitimately positive view of a way out of the economic and climate disasters we're facing.

Manufacturing Consent by Noam Chomsky

"This movie, like the title suggests is required viewing for every single person living in the free world. Not many movies can claim to start political and grass-roots movements but this one has.

If you value your intelligence, if you don't believe a pre-fabricated word of what the media machine throws at you, if you want to fight to keep your intellect alive and your own individual thinking original, if you are sick and tired of how this world is NOW and passionately want to change it for the better, then this movie is for you. The movie and accompanying book claim to be primers in intellectual self-defense, which they certainly are but beyond that, they also serve to showcase the many talents of linguist/political dissident/writer/philosopher/professor Noam Chomsky.

I'm surprised the movie didn't win a Best Documentary Oscar, which it certainly should have, perhaps more than anything it just goes to show you that the contents of this movie probably strike too close to home and make the media elite squirm in their seats."

Vaccines and Pregnancy Do Not Mix

Sad story with many comments from women who had miscarriages after getting the H1N1 shot their doctors advised them to get.

Did you know that thanks to Congress, the vaccine manufacturers CAN NOT be sued for adverse reactions?

and have you read the information on the flu-spray you can buy in stores?

The Corporation

The Corporation discusses corporations' status as human beings, the type of human they must be—sociopath—and why they must act that way. The entire film is here, divided into 23 easy-to-digest sections. This is an eye-opening, ground-breaking film.

Do the White House and Senate Still Stand by Their “Drug Deal” with PhRMA?

. . . . PhRMa and other lobbyists (BIO) did all of the following:

– They hoodwinked the White House on their financial plight, pleading financial hardship when their prospects were exactly the opposite;

– They effectively bribed numerous members of Congress and the White House through millions in "legal" campaign donations and promises of future support;

– Genentech and BIO flooded Congress with lobbyists who turned members of both parties into stenographic shills for the drug makers (details from Marcy Wheeler, here and here);

– They conned Congress into proposing unjustified, lengthy and semi-permanent "evergreening" extensions of patent and exclusivity prohibitions on generics and bio-similars (more here and here);

– And they conned the Senate Finance Committee into shielding them from competition from drug imports and Medicare negotiations.

[ As Aldous Huxley foresaw, there would one day be government sanctioned drugs that enable us to turn off our normal human responses and accommodate ourselves to life in a world that we continue to make less and less livable. But if you take your meds, you can ignore the problems and continue to function.

Feds Wanted Private Data on All Visitors to Liberal News Site

A Justice Department subpoena requesting all available information on all visitors to an independent news site is raising serious privacy concerns, and questions about how much information the US government is storing about its citizens' news reading habits.

DARPA's Futuristic Projects

DARPA is the maverick and controversial Defense Dept. group, whose futuristic work has had amazing civilian and military applications.

Few civilians know just how much a low-profile Department of Defense research agency has influenced our lives, and fewer still realize how much more influential it could become.

I recently was asked to provide technical guidance to Hilo Hawaii residents regarding the participation of military vehicles and equipment that had returned from Iraq. The extensive radiological, chemical, and biological contamination in Iraq once transported back to and consequently released into Hawaii's pristine environment poses both unacceptable medical and environmental risks. Consequently based on U.S. Army regulations I wrote that:
